Hi, I’m Evan

I started out at Starbucks in 2011, after graduating from college with a studio arts degree (painting and making ceramics). I didn’t want art to become a burdened love, so I pivoted to coffee. At first, it was a paycheck. But over time it sparked fascination, which transformed into passion, which evolved into joy.

I realized early on that coffee is so much more than a beverage with a specific function. I began to see it as a metaphor for the uniqueness of people, places, and cultures. This is what keeps me “in it”; I never left the industry. After a decade (+ some change), I’ve learned a lot about each step in the coffee supply chain. I have traveled to places where coffee grows and worked alongside people who steward the plants with their hands and feet.

There is so much I love about coffee. But there’s also so much I want to see us change and improve in the coffee landscape (environmentally, economically, and culturally), which is one of the main reasons I started this small business – it’s one way of putting my values into action. I want to play my part in collective efforts to improve the industry. Thank you for your support, and I hope you come back for an(other) great coffee experience!
