Another community lot harvest has arrived from the Jinotega farming community! This year's profile maintains all the approachable, mellow attributes of prior years, making it an easy coffee to enjoy in any brewing setup. This harvest features plum and vanilla notes with a base flavor of pecans, a clean acidity, and a soft and silky mouthfeel. Each harvest has new characteristics to express and sometimes tweaking the roast is necessary to adequately represent them – which is what I did here. Enjoy this new season of deliciousness!
Sometimes community lots imply varying quality levels of picked and sorted coffee cherries getting processed together. These can yield a lower quality end product if there are varying levels of ripeness in the picked cherries that are all processed. Fortunately, this coffee doesn’t suffer from such issues. Gold Mountain Coffee Growers have put in place some pretty incredible standards to ensure that only ripe cherries get picked for processing. This coffee shows it in the cup too, and I think it’s a model for just how good a community lot of coffee can be.
